![]() Leopards are found throughout sub-Saharan Africa. They tolerate a very wide variety of habitats, from semi-desert to rainforests and even high mountains. They are not currently a threatened species. ![]() Leopards generally prefer the antelope family as prey, but they are very flexible eaters and can also take smaller prey such as rock hyrax, reptiles, and birds. ![]() Leopards are solitary and mostly nocturnal. During the daytime, they can often be seen resting in trees, though their spotted coats camouflage them well. They can take prey twice their weight, and their amazing stealth and great patience lets them manoeuvre into very close range before they pounce, thus avoiding long chases. They often drag their kills high up into trees to keep them away from other predators. Kopjes (large rock outcrops) are a good place to look for leopards. ![]() Below is the Leopard picture gallery.
