The Mac-Mac Falls are one of the most photographed and
unusual sites in the lowveld area. The Mac-Mac River plummets down 65
meters. It is named after Mac Mac village, the site of the gold rush of
1873. The Mac-Mac pools, to the south of the falls, consist of a series
of rocky basins filled with water. Swimming is permitted. There is a lovely
picnic sight two kilometers beyond the falls, which is also the starting
point of the Forest Falls Nature Walk.
