The Potholes are situated on the escarpment, marking the
beginning of the Blyde River Canyon. Over thousands of years, deep cylindrical
holes have formed by the action of the waterborne sand and rock carried
down by the rivers when in flood.Tourists can visit the informative Visitors
Center, which details some of the interesting natural and socio-historic
features, as well as obtain a close view of the Potholes from specially
constructed bridges.
